Brookings Mental Health Resource Guide
The Brookings Mental Health Task Force is developing resources for mental health care calls to the 2-1-1 Helpline. The Task Force has split up into two sub-committees, each led by one of our two co-chairs: Nikki Eining and Mary Beth Fishback.
The Resource sub-committee was tasked with developing a comprehensive listing of Mental Health Resources in the county. This task is nearing completion. If you read The Brookings Register, you may have seen an article about this effort. The article asked organizations involved with mental health services that wanted to be included in the resource guide to provide their information to the sub-committee chair, Nikki Eining.
The Resource sub-committee recommended to the Mental Health Task Force that we ask for funding from the city for the first year of hosting the resource guide on the 211 web-site. This recommendation was accepted and the request for funding as on the agenda of the Brookings city Council meeting August 22.
Two other communities in the state, Sioux Falls and Rapid City, already do this on the 211 web-site. IAs the project goes farther, the Brookings Mental Health Task Force will lead Community input sessions and seek volunteer help. Contact Nikki Eining if you are interested in helping with or providing information for the developing resources.
