Brookings Empowerment Project is planning a Mental Health Forum for October 2nd. The forum will feature five speakers:
Dr. Clay Pavlis, MD
Chief Medical Officer of Midwest Specialty Clinics. He is board certified in Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is currently the South Dakota State Psychiatric Director for the Division on Correctional Behavior Health. He has a special interest in Addiction Medicine as well as Neuromodulation and Psychopharmacologenomics.
Deb Hamer, CCDC III, NCGC
She is currently the coordination and education specialist at Serenity Hills Halfway house and detox center in Watertown. She is also on staff at the Human Service Agency. She has been in the addictions field for 24 years. She is a nationally certified Gambling Counselor II.
Dave Mendel, MSW-PIP, QMHP
Dave Mendal has been working in the professions of mental health and addictions since 1987, currently serving outpatients with Health and Human Services in Watertown. He previously worked with inmates having co-occurring disorders at Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield, SD. Mendel works with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, co-occurring disorders, trauma and adolescents with opposition.
Christy Alten-Osmera, CCDCIII, LPC QMHP
Christy Alten-Osmera is the Adolescent Unit Program Director at Keystone Treatment Center since 2007.
Nikki Eining, specialist with Avera Behavioral Health in Brookings.
Nikki Eining is a Specialist with Avera Behavioral Health in Brookings. Her patients include children, adolescents, couples, families, and adults. Eining has training and experience in art activity therapeutic interventions, Trauma Focused CBT, Theraplay, and childhood attachment disorders. She is also the co-chair of the Brookings City and County Mental Health Task Force.
